Note: Registering for the Goldfields Cyclassic – Race includes both Day 1 (The Shire of Menzies Classic) and Day 2 (Leonora Golden Wheels or Minara Resources Leonora Women’s Classic) registrations. 

No Licence, No Race

All Goldfields Cyclassic Race entrants must hold a current AusCyclng – ‘Race All Disciplines Licence’. No other licences are accepted for the Cyclassic Race. Click HERE to purchase your licence. You will need to show proof of purchase of your licence at Rider Registration.

An AusCycling licence is required for all Community Challenge riders (for insurance purposes). AusCycling offer a "Lifestyle" licence. Click HERE for full details and to purchase your licence. You will need to show proof of purchase of your licence at Rider Registration

Travel Information

 Weekend Travel Package

A huge element of taking part of the iconic Goldfields Cyclassic is the travel experience with likeminded cyclists! For the Goldfields Cyclassic we offer a weekend travel taking care of your your travel needs including:

  • Bike transport from Perth to Goldfields and back
  • Chartered flight from Perth to Kalgoorlie (Saturday 1 June)
  • Bus transfer from airport to Rider Registration
  • Bus transfer from Menzies to Kalgoorlie, and from Menzies to Morapoi Station (post awards dinner on Saturday 1 June)
  • Bus transfer from Leonora to airport (post awards on Sunday 2 June)
  • Chartered flights from Leonora to Perth (Sunday 2 June)

Chartered flight seats are limited and can be purchased during the registration process - $450.00

Flight details will be provided ahead of the event:

  • Flight Saturday 1 June 2024 - To Be Advised - Perth to Kalgoorlie
  • Flight Sunday 2 June 2024 - To Be Advised - Leonora to Perth

NOTE: SUBJECT TO CHANGE. Final confirmation will be provided via email to riders who purchase the chartered flight option.

NOTE: The incoming flight will be met by a bus at the airport which will transfer entrants/officials who arrive on the charter flight to Registration. The same bus will also transport entrants/ officials to the Leonora Airport on Sunday afternoon.

NOTE: When organising travel plans, please note that currently the commercial flights on Saturday 1 June 2024 will not arrive in time for race registration and as such should not be used by race competitors. 


 Transporting Your Bike

We are unable to freight bikes on the chartered flight, therefore bikes are transported via Allied (The Careful Movers) furniture transport truck.  

Packing your bike: It is your responsibility to ensure that your bike is packed correctly for transport.  

Bikes must be packed in a bike box or bike transport bag, made for the purpose of shipping. Bikes that are not packed in a box or bag will not be transported. 
We strongly recommend that your bike is insured. The race organisers, Eastern Goldfields Cycle Club Inc and Allied are not liable for any damage that occurs during transportation or while bikes are stored in the truck. 

Riders are responsible for taking care of their bikes at all times.

PLEASE NOTE THAT THESE TIMES MUST BE STRICTLY ADHERED TO 

If you are thinking about coming by train, you will still need to drop your bike to Allied Perth as the Prospector train service does not accommodate bikes. 

This service is provided free of charge to you and is provided by sponsors Allied (The Careful Movers).


 Train and Flights

Chartered flight seats are limited and can be purchased during the registration process. Cost $450.00

Both Qantas and Virgin operate flights from Perth to Kalgoorlie and return however Saturday morning flights do not arrive in time for race entrants who must attend the race briefing at 9:00am sharp.

Accommodation

 Menzies

We strongly encourage you to stay overnight in either Menzies or at Morapoi Station and really experience the friendly and generous hospitality of the Northern Goldfields and enjoy the true spirit of the 2024 Goldfields Cyclassic event. 

Menzies Bivouac Option 

We will provide and assemble your tent and mattress ready for your arrival. Showers, Toilets and a charging station area are all included. Just bring a pillow, sleeping bag, toiletries and your Sunday race gear.  

Singles $105.00, Doubles $180.00 

Menzies Caravan Park 

Powered sites and camping sites available with shower and toilet facilities. Both facilities are within 50m of the Menzies Town Hall.  There is also a grassed area available for tents.  This is limited so it is best to book your place early. There is a small cost for pitching your tent. See details here  Shire of Menzies.

Please note: If you are pitching tents or staying within the confines of the Menzies Caravan Park then you must pay the fee for this direct to the Menzies Caravan Park.   

There is overflow camping available on the Oval (by the Menzies Town Hall) for swags and tents only.  Please make sure you don't pitch your tent too close to the fireworks! 

Morapoi Station 

Morapoi Station is 50km north of Menzies. Mining camp style, showers and comfortable rooms. There will be a bus to transport you to Morapoi after the Awards dinner and then returning to Menzies on Sunday in plenty of time for Race Briefing and preparing for the second stage of the event - the Leonora Golden Wheels. NOTE: This is very basic style accommodation and potable water supplies are very limited. Unless signed as potable water do not assume water can be consumed.

Please note that you will need to bring a towel with you to shower in Menzies after the first stage.  The bus does not go to Morapoi prior to the Awards dinner.

Bookings in Kalgoorlie need to be made individually. 

The Plaza Hotel Kalgoorlie is within easy walking distance to the start line in Hannan Street and is our preferred accommodation in Kalgoorlie.
